Been really inspired to draw and paint these few weeks. Honestly, I love that my efforts aren’t just dissolving into the ether of my life. Thank you for being here and sharing a little heart or comment – you have inspired me.
House painting update: I felt really good about some things I did this week. from memory i drew the interior of two houses I lived in and where all the stuff was bird’s eye view – walls are invisible.
I lived here only 3 months ago, so I had a pretty good idea of where everything lived.
This house I lived in 11 years ago. I only really remember where one art piece was (large nude I drew of my gf at the time that I mounted above the bed-class, right?). A few things have made it with me through all the houses – these were also easy to place (kitchen table, stereo) . It was a fun mental exercise to try and document the fragment of what was left.
Things then came together further conceptually when I did the following:
Here I am overlaying vellum with a sketch of the exterior of the house over the interior. You can kind of focus blur out various parts of it all, which in and of itself is memory-like and dreamy.
What I am thinking is that a combination of blind sketching the exteriors over a more calculated interior might produce something I am looking for. So TBD I’ll be exploring that a bit more this coming week.
Lastly, I felt good about this painting I did of lake washington from my place. Not really anything complicated or conceptual here, just the aesthetic vibes. Busted this out in about an hour
