Okay you found it – ½” from each side mentally map out a square. Then weave the thread through the loops on the sweater undulating like a little fabric dolphin on the waves of wool beneath. You get this:

Now you just do the same thing at a 90 degree angle – rippin like a dolphin again but under and over your previous waves. And whammo the hole is fixed – unfortunately your partner will still hate the sweater but the hole won’t get bigger – does she even read my blog? Tie a little knot on the backside of the starting point and the ending point of the thread.
