Treachery of Images
A famous painting from the surrealist movement is “Treachery of Images” by Renee Migreute: shown below:
Beautifully – it says “this is not a pipe”. images and words are an abstraction of “thing” – from an art history point of view, this is kinda a statement about how “realism” in painting and literature is BS. “this isn’t a pipe dummy! It’s a painting!”
My little art thing of the week is playing off this painting:
Get it? eeeeh?
Played around with colored pencils also for this – not as intuitive for me, but I got a result that is “good”. I may be doing a series of these until I get it exactly how I want it to look. Happy about how the drill bit looks. The colored pencil got things pretty muddy in my opinion.
